Salary Negotiation — Get Paid What You Deserve

Most people never negotiate their salary and leave $500,000-1,000,000 on the table over their career. Here is how to negotiate effectively.

Before the Negotiation

Research market rates. Use Glassdoor, PayScale, LinkedIn salary insights. Know the range for your role, experience, and location.

Document your value. List accomplishments with numbers. "Increased sales by 25%" not "helped with sales."

During the Negotiation

Let them make the first offer. If asked for your number first, give a range based on research.

Negotiate total compensation. Salary + bonus + equity + benefits + remote work + vacation days. A $5K lower salary with $10K more in benefits is a better deal.

Use silence. After stating your number, stop talking. Silence makes the other person fill the gap, often with a better offer.

The Lifetime Impact

A $5,000 higher starting salary, invested at 10% for 30 years, is worth $822,470. One conversation = nearly $1 million in lifetime wealth.
