- NEFT — National Electronic Funds Transfer. For larger transfers. Available 24/7. No limit on amount. Settlement in batches (every 30 minutes)
- RTGS — Real Time Gross Settlement. For transfers above ₹2 lakh. Instant settlement. Used for high-value transactions like property purchases
- IMPS — Immediate Payment Service. 24/7 instant transfer. Limit: ₹5 lakh. Small fee may apply
- Digital wallets — Paytm Wallet, Amazon Pay, PhonePe Wallet. Good for small payments and offers. RBI limits wallet balance to ₹2 lakh for full KYC users
- Credit/Debit cards — Contactless payments (tap to pay) up to ₹5,000. Online payments with OTP. International transactions may require enabling in net banking
Digital Banking Safety
- Never share OTP, CVV, PIN, or password — No bank employee will ever ask for these. Any such request is a scam
- Use strong, unique passwords — Different password for each banking app. Use a password manager
- Enable transaction alerts — SMS and email alerts for every debit. Report unauthorized transactions within 3 days for protection under RBI guidelines
- Avoid public Wi-Fi for banking — Use mobile data for banking transactions. Public Wi-Fi can be intercepted
- Update apps regularly — Keep banking apps updated for security patches
- Lock cards when not in use — Most banking apps allow temporary card locking. Enable only when making a transaction
- Beware of phishing — Do not click on links in SMS or email claiming to be from your bank. Always type the bank URL directly or use the official app
